Singer Spotlight: Tiffany Young

The next artist in the Singer Spotlight series is Tiffany Young. She is a Korean-American artist, who is part of the mega-successful Korean girl group, Girls' Generation. Although she is no longer signed to SM Entertainment, she still remains close with her fellow band-mates.

Unfortunately, I didn't discover her until I watched Vanity Fair's video titled "Tiffany Young teaches You Korean Slang." I then started listening to her music, starting with "Teach You."

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Tiffany Stephanie Young Hwang was born on August 1, 1989, in Diamond Bar, California, USA. She has a father, an older sister, and an older brother. Her mother died when she was 12 years old.

ARTIST ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Tiffany was scouted by a local SM Entertainment representative at a singing contest when she was 15. She subsequently auditioned for SM Entertainment and was accepted as a trainee. She then moved to South Korea three weeks after being accepted.

She trained at SM Entertainment for four years, making her debut in August 2007, as a member of a  girl group called, Girls' Generation. Girls' Generation would be known as one of the most successful Korean girl groups in the second-generation era of K-Pop.

AMERICAN DEBUT
Tiffany released a song for the Pixar movie, Coco, called "Remember Me" in March 2018. "Remember Me" was used as the theme song for the movie.

She then made her American debut under Paradigm Talent Agency, with Transparent Arts as her label. Her debut single was titled "Over My Skin". "Over My Skin" was released on June 27, 2018.

Her second single was titled "Teach You", which was released on September 28, 2018. It was at this time that she collaborated with H&M's Divided Music fall campaign. She was also made the face of H&M's Fall 2018 campaign.

In October 2018, Tiffany had the honor of being the first female K-Pop artist to walk the red carpet of the American Music Awards.

In November 2018, she released a holiday single, called "Peppermint". Later that month, she announced her Lips on Lips Mini Showcase Tour, which would take place in North America, spanning eight dates and eight cities.

On January 25, 2019, Tiffany released her third single, "Born Again". The music video for "Born Again" was also released on the same day.

The next day, January 26, 2019, Tiffany was nominated  "Best Solo Breakout"  artist for 2019's iHeartRadio Music Awards.

And finally, her EP, Lips on Lips was released on February 22, 2019.

As always, thank you for reading, and I hope you all have a great day! Please stay tuned for the next installment of Singer Spotlight, coming your way soon x
