Singer Spotlight: Hui (of Pentagon)

I'd like to start a new series on the blog, called Singer Spotlight. The purpose of this series is to draw attention to talented yet underrated artists - the first of which is Hui (pronounced Hwee) from the Korean boyband, PENTAGON (also abbreviated as PTG).

Hui is the leader of the band PENTAGON, which debuted on October 10, 2016. Although this group is still relatively new in the Kpop/Idol industry, they are a force to be reckoned with.

Hui (Lee Hwi-taek)  was born on August 28, 1993, in Gwacheon, South Korea. In addition to being the leader of PENTAGON, he is one of two main vocalists (the other being Jo Jinho) and lead dancer of the group, under Cube Entertainment.  He was also part of a subunit called Triple H with former member E'Dawn (Kim Hyojong) and solo artist, HyunA.

Hui is a man of many talents - singer, dancer, lyricist, composer, and music producer. He produced the following songs: Never (for Produce 101 Season 2), Energetic (Wanna One's debut song), and wrote Like Paradise (for artist Kriesha Chu). All three songs have become massively popular hits on Korean music charts.

He has also produced and written songs for his own group, including: You Are, Organic Song, Thank You, When I Was in Love, Like This, Runaway, Shine, and Naughty Boy.

Further, he has contributed to Korean drama OSTs (Original Soundtracks) including:
Who Am I (Bad Guys: City of Evil OST Part 1)
Maybe (About Time OST Part 3)

Earlier this year, Hui participated in a Korean music show called Breakers. Breakers is a competition where singer-songwriters compete by performing their self-composed songs live. He composed several songs for the competition as listed:

Navigation -
Bodyguard -
Swim Good (ft Somin of KARD) -
For You -

Please check out these incredible performances!

Next up on this series is Jo Jinho (of Pentagon). As always, thank you for reading.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Essie Matte About You Topcoat

I've always been into doing my nails, and especially the look of matte nails. After seeing many matte nail posts on Instagram and elsewhere online, I knew I had to try it.

Last week, I bought a matte topcoat from Essie called "Matte About You." At the time, I was wearing Essie's Less is Aura, from the Winter 2017 collection. Excited to see how my manicure would look, I immediately applied the topcoat on to my nails. The result was a beautifully smooth matte finish!

PRODUCT REVIEW: E.L.F. Velvet Matte Lipstick - Blushing Brown

I recently did a massive cleanout of beauty products in preparation for the upcoming Winter season. There were a few lipsticks that I wanted to hold on to, however they were past their expiration date.

I picked up e.l.f.'s Velvet Matte Lipstick yesterday in the shade Blushing Brown. Upon initial application, I felt it was a little too brown, but as I wore it for a longer period of time, it grew on me.

The shade compliments my natural lip color, and is also on-trend.

Here is the lipstick:

Fall/Winter Nail Polishes

Now that we're approaching Fall/Winter, we've slowly been pulling out our sweaters, jackets, and scarves out to welcome the new seasons. We've also been busy rearranging our closets/wardrobes to fit the seasons.

I like to do the same with my nail polishes. In the summer, I would sport pastels and corals. Since the weather is getting colder, I like to wear muted, neutral colours - both in clothes and nail polishes. Here are my favourites for Fall/Winter.

1. Bare With Me - Essie

This muted pink is the perfect transitional shade from Summer to Fall. It is also complementary with all skin colours and tones - which means it looks good on everyone!

2. Wild Nude - Essie

This beautiful grey-ish purple shade is perfect for Fall/Winter. It goes with any outfit.

3. Less is Aura - Essie

Upon application, this polish was SMOOTH. It's a lovely brick red or as some call it, terracotta colour.

4. Superstar - Michael Kors

Last but not least is this rich, copper shade from Michael Kors. Upon application, it is buttery smooth. Since it has a wider brush, it makes application easy and flawless.

What are your favourite nail polish shades for Fall/Winter? Please leave them down in the comments below!
