ALBUM REVIEW: The Chaos After You - Eric Chou

Over the past few months, I've been trying to maintain and keep my Mandarin (Chinese) as I don't get a chance to use it often.
I've learned that one of the most effective ways to learn and keep a language is through music. Thus, for the past few months, I've been listening to music from an artist by the name of Eric Chou. Eric is a 23-year-old singer-songwriter from Taiwan, who spent his teen years in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
His newest album, The Chaos After You, skillfully showcases his musical styles. He draws inspiration from both the East and the West - from his native Taiwan, and his second home, Boston, USA.
Now, for the album review.
The Chaos After You - The title track is a ballad which tells the story of a couple who has broken up. The male still has pangs of regret and guilt. However, he has accepted that sometimes, you need to let a certain path run its course. He sings, "I have loved you truly and deeply" which brings him the comfort and closure needed to move on.
Another You - The second track is an EDM track, which is both upbeat and catchy. Eric has carefully introduced a style of music that Taiwanese/Chinese audiences may not be familiar with, as EDM is not common in Chinese music. However, he has done a great job, as it flows nicely and seamlessly with the rest of the album.
Unbreakable Love - Eric is well-known for his beautiful ballads and fantastic song-writing skills. This track showcases his talent in both areas. It is a sweet love song, which everyone will enjoy - whether you're young, old, single, or in a relationship.
Lies - The eighth track is another EDM number, highlighting Eric's versatility as an artist. It recounts a story that most of us can relate to - being lied to by someone we love. Eric pleads for the person he loves to stop lying, for them to speak their mind. He knows that even if the truth hurts, it will always be better than being "comforted" by a lie.
In conclusion, Eric Chou's third album The Chaos After You shows his growth, both as an artist and as an adult. His songwriting skills prove that he is capable of writing beautiful ballads and also EDM tracks that will make anyone want to get up and dance.
