ALBUM REVIEW: 25 - Adele
As many of you know, Adele’s album ‘25’ came out last
November, and is quickly approaching its one- year anniversary next month. I
re-discovered this album last month, fell in love and immediately saved it on
Spotify. Without further ado, let’s delve into my favorites from the album.
Hello – I first heard this song on the radio shortly
after the album was released. The chorus to this song is quite catchy, and the
music video was beautifully shot. I like how the video is shot in black and
white, alluding to the somber tone of the song, while also giving a nostalgic
and classic old – school feel.
Send My Love (To Your New Lover) –Upon hearing this
song, I knew it would be one of my favorites. The message of the song speaks to
me, as it is often difficult to get over heartbreak, yet it is essential to
living. I once read a quote which said “You can’t start a new chapter of your
life if you keep re-reading the last one” and I believe that this song is the
aforementioned quote in lyric form.
River Lea – This songs starts off as a ballad, yet
its chorus is powerful and is an anthem to strength and confidence. If I could
sum it up in a few words, it would be “anthem of every strong woman.”
Million Years Ago – This song is a piece of
self-reflection, a comparison of the past and the present. Adele’s voice is
soulful, and listeners can hear the anguish in her voice as she sings. I
believe this is a song that everyone can relate to, regardless of age, race,
and background.
In conclusion, ‘25’ is a showcase of Adele’s immense talent,
with tracks ranging from pop and R&B to soulful ballads, all which resonate deeply in
the minds of listeners and fans.
